Entrusting the Gospel to faithful men and women
On October 21, 2018, guest speaker Tanner Ripley of Montana, USA, shared the message from 2 Timothy 2:1-7.
In the passage, the apostle Paul, while imprisoned in Rome, is writing to Timothy as he leads the church in Ephesus. Paul is urging Timothy to be strong, be courageous, and to pass on the Gospel to faithful men (and women). Timothy was facing incredible challenges and hardships as the church leader in Ephesus. The city of Ephesus was falling deeper and deeper into pagan worship.
If Paul had not been faithful to entrust the teachings of Jesus to Timothy, and likewise Timothy to other men and women, how would we have received the good news of Jesus Christ? There are and will be challenges and hardships when sharing and living Gospel, but, as we learned earlier in 2 Timothy, God provides us the boldness and courage to entrust the Gospel to others!
Like soldiers, we must be committed; like athletes, we must be disciplined; and like farmers, we must put in the work of sharing and living the Gospel.
Listen to a portion of Tanner's sermon, and join us on Sundays at 17:00 for fellowship and worship!
